Cast

Kim Blanche
as Leslie
“My life parallels Leslie’s in many ways. We both have a long term marriage, we both have two grown daughters and we are both retired educators. My challenge has been to create Leslie’s unique character with reactions and emotions that belong to her. This play has given me an opportunity for immense growth in my art. It is an intimate cast with intimate, but also universal themes. The directing has been first class, exhausting and exhilarating. I have played a variety of roles with some fantastic community theatres around Ottawa but this is the first role that has allowed me to engage such a range of emotions.”

Harold Swaffield
as Brian
“As I delve farther into this character I begin to learn the secrets of a man in his 60’s. I’m in my 60’s now, and thought I would be able to “relate” to Brian on every level. When I first read for the part.. it had me intrigued to be playing him .. now, as we get into the meat of the script I am finding parallels that I had never expected. Brian is a simple man on the outside but.. he is a complex design of life inside. Only time will tell what his life will bring him in the end.”

Heather Trent
as Cordelia
“When I stumbled upon BUYSEXUAL, my heart leaped with excitement! Despite the audition being a six-hour drive away from my home in Brantford, I had this gut feeling I just couldn’t shake. The representation portrayed in this play is phenomenal. It’s witty, absolutely hilarious, and the characters are wonderfully three-dimensional and well-rounded. Every time I think I’ve uncovered all there is to know about Cordelia, I’m pleasantly surprised with something new.”

Heather Evens
as Amanda
“As the little sister to main character Leslie, she’s the sister we would all want to have on the other end of a phone call – easy to talk to, supportive, open-minded, and hilarious! When I first read the play, I knew I needed to be involved in this production, in whatever way possible. Andrew’s script is, in a single word, compelling – everyone who walks through the doors of the theatre will be drawn into the world of these five characters and leave with new questions, answers, emotions and/or topics for conversation with friends and family. I’m proud to be a part of it and thrilled to play Amanda.”

Logan Indeway
as Nine-Inch Nils
“When I first heard of this play through a friend, I knew I had to be a part of it, and lo and behold I was selected to be a part of it. Andrew’s script is like none I have read before and is a most wonderful blend of being both hilarious and thought provoking. It is truly an engaging story he has crafted, and he has (not to sound my own trumpet) selected the right people to bring this story to life. It has been an honour and a privilege to work with everyone in the cast, it has truly been a wonderful experience. I have previously played character’s such as ‘Isaac Jaggard’ in The Book Of Will, ‘Macduff’ in The Tragedie Of Macbeth, and The Officer in Beauty Will Save The World to name a few, but none of those roles compare to the very unique experience that has been playing the character of Nine-Inch Nils.”

Mr. Nightshade
as Brutally murdered eggplant
“I live and die for art.”
